The band's status and profile dictates that members must be of a suitably high standard. As a guide this should be minimum Grade VIII and preferably with some experience of ensemble playing. Ex-military musicians are always welcome, however membership is open to all of suitable ability.
We are not a 'rehearsal' band. The Central Band undertakes many high profile engagements and as such, members require the appropriate level of ability and experience. Members are asked to be available for as many engagements as possible, which means attendance at weekly rehearsals is very important.
