The Friends of Canterbury Cathedral present: D-Day Commemoration Concert from the RBL Central Band

Join us in The Nave of Canterbury Cathedral as we welcome the return of The Central Band of The Royal British Legion for a sensational and heart-stirring concert. June is the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. The Central Band of the Royal British Legion will come to Canterbury straight from playing for veterans on board the boat as they travel to France for Remembrance commemorations in Normandy.

The music will feature the sounds of songs made famous by Dame Vera Lynn (Run, Rabbit, Run, White Cliffs of Dover, Wish me Luck, We’ll Meet Again, Eric Coates’ The Knightsbridge March, The Padstow Lifeboat, The Sounds of Richard Rogers (Oklahoma, Nothing Like a Dame, Climb Eve’ry Mountain), Ladies in Lavender, ABBA Gold (Waterloo and many more), Sibelius’ Finlandia, and Williams’ Hymn to the Fallen (from Saving Private Ryan).

A spectacular celebration of the music of World War Two to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the 80th anniversary of the Central Band of the Royal British Legion, and the 200th Anniversary of the Royal National Lifeboat Institute.

Tickets: Adults £22, Children (under 12) £12 (Incl. £2 booking fee per ticket)

This event is organised, managed and delivered by the Friends of Canterbury Cathedral
